From the owner on #144 (2026-10-30): Crimson Pro is now the default reading face; "we can also consider a more stylish sans font in the future which is more fitting for the theme".

Today the Sans choice in Display settings uses the system's sans (Ubuntu on the phone), and the interface uses Ubuntu too (docs/10-design.md, Type).

To decide:

  • Which sans (OFL or similar, no GPL-2.0-only), and whether it replaces the system sans only for the reading text's Sans choice or also in the interface.
  • Its memory and click size cost (fonts are about 80 kB per subset weight; PSS budget in docs/07).
  • A mockup on the #95 canvas next to Crimson Pro before building it.

Part of the #95 design language follow-ups.
