ausweisapp-ut
Feasibility work for running AusweisApp
(German eID client) natively on Ubuntu Touch, using the phone's NFC reader via
nfcd. Target device: Volla Phone Plinius
(ansuz, Halium 14, UT 24.04).
Unofficial community effort, not affiliated with Governikus or the BSI.
nfc-eid-check.sh
Checks whether nfcd on the device can carry the APDUs AusweisApp needs:
- nfcd running, adapter enabled/powered, reader mode active
- ID card detected as ISO-DEP tag
- short APDUs (SELECT MF, READ BINARY EF.CardAccess)
- extended-length Le (65536)
- extended-length Lc (300-byte command)
Read-only: no PIN/CAN/PACE, so it cannot touch retry counters.
adb push nfc-eid-check.sh /home/phablet/
adb shell bash /home/phablet/nfc-eid-check.sh # screen on + unlocked; WAIT=120 for more time
Integration options (if the check passes)
- A: pcsc-lite IFD handler bridging to nfcd's IsoDep D-Bus API, so the stock Linux AusweisApp build works unchanged (system-level component).
- B: Qt6 QtNfc backend for nfcd and enable AusweisApp's
src/card/nfcplugin on Linux (self-contained click).
